A Bite of Latin America
The result is Susie’s cookbook … A Bite of Latin America … which is crammed with yummy recipes, tales about their travels and wonderful photographs. Think temptations like Mexican chicken and lime soup and Mexican baked fish in olive and tomato sauce. In Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, among many other delights, they sampled drunken pork chops, chilled rum custard, as well as sugar and spice ice cream sandwich (yes, please!). Once in South America proper they dug into Ecuadorian prawn cocktails and potato and peanut stew with tofu, Peruvian potato, avocado, tomato and tuna layered stacks, Brazilian prawn pie; prawns in coconut milk sauce; Brazilian cheese bites and upside down banana cake. In Argentina, they tucked into beef and onion pies, mince and potato bake and roast figs served with ice cream. And that’s just the tip of the culinary iceberg, so if you’re planning to spice up your meals, we suggest you grab a copy of this cookbook and have fun. Human & Rousseau, R340.
