Travelbags races for a cause
Teams gathered at the stunning Indaba Hotel in Fourways where 31 brave (and very enthusiastic) teams face a challenging race along the lines of the popular Amazing Race television show.
This was essentially a fun day, but not a push over … Entrants needed a combination of brains and brawn and great teamwork to win a selection of impressive prizes. After 10 stops, the winning team was Easier Said Than Run – they completed the highest number of tasks in the best times and won the fabulous grand prize of an all expenses paid trip for the five team members and their partners to Zanzibar – this prize included three nights at Ngawala Beach Lodge in Zanzibar and flights by Mango Airlines.
A prize giving, raffles and a scrumptious dinner at the Chef’s Boma at The Indaba Hotel to celebrated the completion of the race.
So enthusiastically has this initiative, which will be an annual event, been received, that entries have already been sold out and substantial funds raised for the chosen charity – The Society of Animals in Distress.
Travelbags raised R13 000 for the Society of Animals in Distress plus more than 300kgs of dog food for the charity as well.
One of the largest travel clubs of its kind in South Africa, Travelbags organises networking lunches that give sponsors a ‘one-on-one’ opportunity to market their products directly to the travel industry. Monies raised at these lunches are donated to the sponsor’s choice of charity. Travelbags are thrilled to have been able to host this very successful fund-raising event, which they believe is something different and an exciting … a fun race in which their members can participate and also make a difference.
